I'm familiar with that pain when it seems my best ain't enough. That I just won't ever "get it". 9 yrs ago it led me to walk away from the chance of a better life. I had no hope 'cause I didn't look for it, or even give it a chance. Since coming back things have been different. I actually listened to what was being offered to me. I was given the gift of hope by a gifted, caring person who saw thru my confusion, anger, and fear and challenged me to just give a little effort and a little time in exchange for a chance at a better life. I knew what the word hope meant in the dictionary but had no clue what it could mean to ME. As I see how the program works in the lives of people I am getting to know I appreciate that simple 4 letter word more and more. I took that hope and it helped me keep an open mind long enough to see definite, positive changes in myself. Nothing really earth-shaking but enough to keep me around for another day. For me that is the power of hope. Just believing that I MIGHT have a chance at something better.
