For more than 20 years, Tsgoyna has been coaching a broad range of people, including those who’ve suffered traumatic brain injuries and catastrophic life events as well as healthy, smart, successful people who’ve been derailed or feel stuck. She likes to say, “You don’t have to have a brain injury to damage your brain, we do that with our limiting thoughts and negative beliefs.” Tsgoyna is an expert at helping women learn to coach themselves, so they can redefine and recreate their lives from an integrated, empowered and joyful state. She teaches women the tools and strategies to separate circumstances from thoughts & feelings, while gaining insight and choice into the actions they take. She supports women in releasing emotional baggage and limiting beliefs, setting goals and taking action to achieve them. Tsgoyna knows about addiction, codependence, alcoholism and the daily process of working a program as her husband is celebrating 25 years of sobriety since the intervention she arranged. Life Needs Tidying – By Tsgoyna Tanzman

  Two crumpled receipts:  1 from Costco,1 from Ralph’s, 1 double-sided shopping list, 1 yellow post it note scribbled in blue ink: “Thanks for the loan PT,”  3 pellets of hard dog food & a tablespoonful of sand. This is what I found at the bottom my laundry basket, after I hoisted a heaping double armload of crumpled whites. Life needs tidying. Mine is a mostly tidy house as long as you don’t open a cabinet or drawer. Until someone comes over, I think my house is tidier than it is. Then I notice every little out-of-place detail: An unfolded towel, a cup left on the counter, a paperclip by the sink, a hair scrunchie abandoned on the couch. “That’s good. That’s Bad.” I recalled this tag line from one of my favorite children’s’ books by that title, as I watched nature unfold while on safari in Africa. A lion was in hot pursuit of an antelope. “Oh, that’s Bad.” The antelope, away from the protection of its herd, leaped into the water to halt the lion’s pursuit, just narrowly escaping certain death. Oh, that’s good. But almost immediately a crocodile surfaced with wide-open jaws and the antelope succumbed. Oh, that’s bad. Life in the bush is a constant tale of, “Oh that’s good. That’s bad.” But so it is for our lives as well.     My client called me the day after it happened… “I went to the emergency room, she said.  “I thought I was having a heart attack. I guess I’m really anxious about this speech.” Her tone was heavy with shame and self-recrimination. “Well, it’s better to die of embarrassment than a heart attack,” I said, “but let’s talk about what got you there.” Anxiousness is a really poor use of imagination. Do You Have An Expiration Date On Your Expansion? – By Tsgoyna Tanzman

  My dentist peered into my open mouth, “We’ll have to take the bonding off your tooth if we want to do Invisalign.” (Clear braces). As a middle child, I fell into the category of “good enough.” My older sister needed braces, a dermatologist and a counselor. My younger brother needed glasses and an allergist.  In my family, resource allocation was on an as needed basis and even though my teeth weren’t great, they were good enough. As an adult, I became increasingly aware of my misalignment and how it looked when I spoke.  I was beginning to have more public exposure and didn’t like how, in photographs, two teeth always looked as if they were missing because they were recessed. I had minor orthodontia in my 40’s, but overtime I stopped wearing my retainer and my teeth returned to their recessed positions. The worst tooth was in the center… Continue reading
