I Love Recovery Café is open to any addiction, recovery or mental health related topic. We accept submissions from anyone that has been affected by these issues either directly or indirectly.
We accept essays, poetry, music (preferably sound cloud recordings), photography and art.
When submitting you will be required to have a gravatar account. Gravatar is a universally recognized avatar that shows up when you comment on articles on the internet, and how we will identify your work. It’s easy and quick to create. You can set it up by going to https://en.gravatar.com/ Once it is set up you need to let us know the email address you used to create the account.
Along with the gravatar account, we require a short bio from each contributor. Say something interesting about yourself to help the readers get a feel for you. You can check out the contributors section of I Love Recovery Café to see examples of how other people did it. If you are worried about anonymity we have an anonymous contributor option and your work will be identified by first name and last initial only.
Essays should be in the rage of 600 to 1200 words. We will consider more or less, as long as you have a strong point that keeps the readers interest.
A good article will have been edited by the writer at least three times before submission. Make sure punctuation and spelling are done to the best of your ability. If the article needs more work it will be sent back to you with some guidelines for improvement – so expect edits.
Send your articles to email@example.com – with “submission” and your name written in the tagline. We will endeavour to get back to you within three working days.
Most importantly, enjoy the process. Don’t get stressed or panicked or doubt yourself. Getting to know your own creative process and timing is vital for an enjoyable experience. So CHILL!
